School days!

Well, once a month isn't bad! I'm getting September in! We started school this month and Kai is still just as excited to learn. We are having a blast and he is so motivated that he can get almost all of his independent work done in just a couple of hours. He is taking 4 classes at the school again, PE, Science, Art, and Literature/Writing Circle. He loves to read, and wants so badly to "skip a grade". We are just working and he is doing above his grade level work, but we just worry about the education part, not what grade he is in. It is so fun watching my children learn, and having the flexibility to turn everything into "school" we try to learn and discuss whatever there is a question about. If we want to know more, Kai loves to google it.

We took our own school pictures thanks to our talented SIL photographer, Susan. What doesn't she do? They turned out so cute!

Skylar did it!!!!!

Skylar FINALLY decided to be potty trained, YEA!!! I have tried a few times and decided that, knowing my daughter, it would happen in HER time not mine. We have had 3 days of complete success. She loves "Keeping the Princess Dry" (the ones on her panites!) I bribed her with m&m's, her favorite treat if she went poop, and she sat on the potty until it happened. Then daddy ran to the store and bought her some. She thought that was pretty cool!!! She is such a sweetie. She still amazes me all of the time. I feel so blessed to have such a sweet baby girl. Her daddy lets her know daily that she is his favorite little girl in the whole entire world and she LOVES that. She is probably not going to be allowed to date until she's 25. Even then I think daddy will folow her just to be sure she's safe!!

Being Greatful

I kinda' stole this from someone elses blog, but I just had to.

"Gratefulness is the key to a happy life that we hold in our hands, because if we are not grateful, then no matter how much we have we will not be happy -- because we will always want to have something else or something more."-David Steindl-Rast

I find myself feeling really greatful in this time of minimal work or job security in the market. But, it helps you really look at what is important in your life. I am so GREATFUL for an amazing husband and family. No matter what is going on in our lives we always have eachother. I feel so blessed to have my Heavenly Father to look after me also. I know that no matter what I can turn to him.

WOW 5 months later...

Asher has given himself a calling in our new ward...Hall Monitor...I can usually get through the passing of the sacrament, but then it's out in the halls! I think he just misses our old ward and just wants to say Hi to everyone. He is sooo cute I guess he can get away with it.

Kai is becoming such a big helper. He has always been so good, but he is so extremely helpful and he does whatever he is asked quickly and happily. We met with his Education Specialist like we do every 6 weeks. For those that don't know, Kai is enrolled at The Classical Academy and I am his teacher. We meet with his ES every 6 weeks to turn in work and she sees how he's doing, what he's learning... She gave him a great comment this last meeting, she said that he is doing really well and is reading at about middle of first to second grade reading level. YEAH! It is so fulfilling as a parent teaching your children. I think that this has been really good for us. Kai is such a smart boy, and he loves learning. He asks what we are going to learn almost every day.

Now sweet little Skylar. She and Asher are in a Music Together class. It is a music curriculum taught by an amazing lady that LOVES music and the curriculum is studied and developed by Princeton. It is amazing. Skylar knows all of the words to all of the songs. She sings ALL of the time. Lately I have noticed that she is singing primary songs, and she knows all of the words. It is amazing to me to when I think about how she started out here. She has come so far and accomplished so much. We did the March of Dimes walk(March for Babies) on April 19th and she walked almost the whole way! When we crossed the "finish line" I kinda broke down. She is so inspiring.
